Rihanna 'S&M' Video Director Defends Raunchy ScenesFebruary 4, 2011
The director behind the video for Rihanna's new single 'S&M' has defended its graphic content.
The video, which features several sexually provocative scenes, has been deemed inappropriate by YouTube for people aged under 18 and banned in 11 countries. In an interview with MTV News, Melina Matsoukas said it was intention to create a video that would attract attention. "So when you do something that's provocative, that's usually a repercussion,” she said. “It's gonna be talked about or banned or slandered in some way. But it's making an effect and people are having a dialogue about it, so, to me, that's successful." 'S&M' is the latest single to be taken from Rihanna's chart-topping album 'Loud'. The singer is due to embark on a UK tour in support of the album later this year. (by Jason Gregory) See also: Jessie J Wants Rihanna For 'Do It Like A Dude' Duet (26.04.2011)
