Liars To Support Radiohead On US TourMarch 25, 2008
Radiohead have announced that noise-rock trio Liars will be opening for them on their first round of US tour dates this summer.
The US tour will kick off after Radiohead’s BBC Radio 2 live performances in April, beginning on May 5th in Palk West Springs. In the run up to the summer Radiohead front man Thom Yorke has been branching out, tackling the issue of climate change in the latest Sunday edition of The Observer, for which he was guest editor. Yorke has long been involved with the Big Ask, the Friends Of The Earth campaign for stronger climate change legislation. As guest editor he got the chance to interview Ken Livingstone on his plans for London’s climate change policy, where pop star and politician swapped tips about bicycles and recycling bins. In his editorial, Yorke described some of the initiatives Radiohead have taken to cut energy emissions, by playing in venues supported by public transport and powering lighting rigs with efficient generators. He also called for universal action on climate change, writing: “You should never give up hope.” (by Hazel Sheffield) See also: Radiohead Record Store Day Release Leaks Online (14.04.2011)
