Def Leppard Support Space Hopper World Record AttemptJune 3, 2010
Rock veterans Def Leppard have lent their support to a space hopper world record event in their native Sheffield.
'Bounce For Sheffield' takes place at Don Valley Bowl on July 25th and will see thousands of people bounce on space hoppers simultaneously in a bid to steal the Guiness World Record from an event in Mexico. 2,000 people are needed to make it into the Guinness Book of World Records and raise money for local charities Yorkshire Cancer Research, Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity and Cavendish Cancer Care. Def Leppard singer Joe Elliot, who can be seen with his fellow bandmates on space hoppers below, said: “We urge lots of people to come along on the 25th July to help break a world record and raise money for three fantastic cancer charities, all by bouncing on a space hopper!” A second world record will also be attempted on the day and will involve all 200 participants bouncing for a quarter of a mile. Entry to the event costs £10 and anyone over the age of six can join the fun. Everyone who is sponsored to take part will get a fundraising pack, a t-shirt and space hopper to take home as well as a certificate from the Guinness Book of World Records.
