Sir Paul McCartney Removed From Google Following ComplaintMay 22, 2009
Sir Paul McCartney's house has been removed from Google's Street View program after the Beatle complained, it's been reported.
Sir Paul was apparently “unsettled” that fans could get a 360 degree view of his house in North London. The property has been the former Beatle's main home since 1965 and Sir Paul is thought to have written some of the band's most famous hits there. A formal complaint was lodged with the internet search giant by Sir Paul's security team, who monitor the house 24-hours a day, according to the Sun newspaper. Street View has come under fire since it was launched in the UK in March. Privacy groups have complained the program, which can be accessed via Google's website, is vulnerable to misuse. But a spokesman said anyone could have their house removed at their request. "Since the launch of Street View, millions have used it and the vast majority are very happy to have their house included,” the spokesman added.
