My Chemical Romance Showcase New Album At London Gig

October 23, 2010
My Chemical Romance Showcase New Album At London GigMy Chemical Romance played their first UK gig in three years in London tonight (October 23).

The group showcased songs from their new album ‘Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys’ at Hammersmith Apollo.

Performing in front of a sold out crowd of devotees, they also played a host of classic tracks during their 90-minute set, which marked new drummer Michael Pedicone's debut performance with the band.

Taking to the stage to deafening screams, My Chemical Romance kicked off their set with new single ‘Na Na Na’.

Sporting his new long red hair cut, singer Gerard Way told the crowd it felt good to be back on stage again.

“I’m not going to be earnest tonight but it took a lot for us to make it here,” he said. “Stepping out here just before it felt like a big, fat f*cking reward.”

The band’s set also included live debuts for new songs ‘Planetary (Go!)’ and ‘The Only Hope For Me Is You’, which many fans already knew the words to.

Way was on talkative form during the gig, joking after ‘Give ‘Em Hell, Kid’ that it was like the group were “punish f*cking” the audience. He then apologised “to all the minors in the audience”.

Elsewhere, My Chemical Romance’s set drew songs from their entire career, including the first airing in five years for ‘Our Lady Of Sorrows’.

The band were also joined on stage by female twins during ‘Honey, This Mirror Isn't Big Enough for the Two of Us’, while Way encouraged any first time male fans to take off their shirts for ’You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison’.

The crowd also greeted the songs ‘Teenagers’ and 'Welcome To The Black Parade' from the group’s last album ‘The Black Parade’ with huge roars.

Before leaving the stage for an encore, Way thanked the London crowd, assuring them that the group would be around for another ten years.

“The future is bulletproof,” he added, before the band ended with the U2-sounding ‘The Kids From Yesterday’, which also closes their new album.

'Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys' is released on November 22.
