The xx Have 'No Idea' How To Follow-up Mercury Prize-Winning AlbumSeptember 9, 2010
The xx have said they have no idea what the follow-up to their Mercury Prize-winning debut album will sound like.
The band, who won the award earlier this week for their self-titled LP, are due to start work on the record after they complete their current tour. In an interview with XFM, bassist and vocalist Oliver Sims said: "There's lots of stuff we've learnt from touring and being in a lot of different places and hearing lots of new things but we genuinely don't have any idea what we are going to do yet." Singer Romy Madley Croft admitted that the group had struggled to find creative inspiration while on tour. The xx beat the likes of Paul Weller, Wild Beasts, Mumford & Sons and Dizzee Rascal to claim the Mercury Prize on Tuesday (September 7). The group, who had been hotly tipped to win, are planning to spend the £20,000 prize on building their own studio.
