Biffy Clyro Fans Launch X Factor Conquering Christmas Number One BidDecember 13, 2010
Fans of Biffy Clyro have launched a bid to make the band’s ‘Many Of Horror’ Christmas number one.
It comes after X Factor winner Matt Cardle released his own take on the song, retitled ‘When We Collide’, following his victory on the show. The 27-year-old’s cover is favourite to top the festive chart, but a Facebook campaign is aiming to dent its hopes. The campaign’s founders said they had launched the bid because they didn’t believe Biffy Clyro had yet “achieved the recognition they deserve”. A statement added: “So rather than this being about 'sticking it to Cowell' or whatever, this is about recognising the original artist for their creativity.” The group has already obtained over 20,000 members. The challenge is the latest attempt to dent the X Factor’s dominance of the Christmas chart. Last year, a Facebook campaign propelled Rage Against The Machine’s 90s hit ‘Killing In The Name’ to number one.
