Kings Of Leon: 'Our New Songs Sound Like Radiohead, Thin Lizzy'August 27, 2009
Kings of Leon drummer Nathan Followill has revealed that Radiohead have inspired the band's new album.
The group, who will headline Reading and Leeds this weekend, are currently working on tracks for the follow-up to 2008's 'Only By The Night'. In an interview with Billboard, Followill said the band had “eight or ten ideas kicking around”. “The new stuff is all over the place," he said. "I call it 'Aha Shake ...' but by guys that are a little grown-up and a little better at their instruments. “There's stuff that sounds like Radiohead. There's stuff that sounds like Thin Lizzy. There's stuff that sounds like The Band.” Followill admitted that the success of their last album meant they had reached a stage where they could experiment with their music. “We're pretty much to the point now where ... we can be experimental and try stuff we would've been scared to death to try on the first couple of records,” he said. “Now we find ourselves being a little more adventurous." Before the release of their new artist album, Kings of Leon are set to unveil a remix LP featuring remixes by Justin Timberlake, Mark Ronson and Pharrell Williams. Kenna, Linkin Park and Lykke Li have also re-imagined tracks for the album. The group are also set to release a live DVD of their gig at London's O2 Arena in July.
