Kasabian Have Lucky Escape From World War II GrenadeAugust 26, 2008
Kasabian guitarist Serge Pizzorno has revealed how he and his bandmates had a near miss recently after a World War II grenade was discovered in his back garden.
Bomb disposal experts closed the road surrounding Pizzorno's new home in West London following the discovery. Fortunately the device was successfully defused but the guitarist said it could have been disaster. “All it could have taken was the vibrations from a kickabout in the garden or some loud music and we would have been blown to pieces in a pile of rubble and smoke,” he told the Sun. “I’m 27 as well and there’s a tradition of musicians meeting their end at my age. It’s all sorted now and we should be moving in there in a few weeks.” Kasabian headlined the Creamfields festival in Liverpool on Sunday evening (August 24th), becoming the first rock band to headline a dance music event.
