Kanye West Apologises For Storming The Stage At MTV VMAs

September 14, 2009
Kanye West Apologises For Storming The Stage At MTV VMAsKanye West has apologised for storming the stage during an acceptance speech by Taylor Swift at the MTV Video Music Awards.

The rapper grabbed the microphone from Swift to complain that she had triumphed in the Best Female Video Prize category over Beyonce.

Speaking on stage, West said: "Taylor, I'm really happy for you, and I'm gonna let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time.”

The rapper was booed by members of the audience at Radio City Music Hall in New York, while Beyonce looked visibly shocked.

In a message on his blog this morning, West said: "I'M SOOOOO SORRY TO TAYLOR SWIFT AND HER FANS AND HER MOM.

“I SPOKE TO HER MOTHER RIGHT AFTER AND SHE SAID THE SAME THING MY MOTHER WOULD'VE SAID. SHE IS VERY TALENTED!"

West added that he was “IN THE WRONG” for going on stage and “RUINING HER MOMENT”.

But he still appeared upset that Beyonce's video for 'Single Ladies' had failed to beat Swift's 'You Belong To Me'.

"BEYONCE'S VIDEO WAS THE BEST OF THIS DECADE!!!!” he wrote. “EVERYBODY WANNA BOOOOO ME BUT I'M A FAN OF REAL POP CULTURE!!!

“NO DISRESPECT BUT WE WATCHIN' THE SHOW AT THE CRIB RIGHT NOW CAUSE ... WELL YOU KNOW!!!! I'M STILL HAPPY FOR TAYLOR!!!!"

Swift was given a second chance to give her acceptance speech later during the ceremony when Beyonce called her on stage after winning Video Of The Year for 'Single Ladies'.

"I remember how excited I was," Beyonce said. "I'd like Taylor to come out and have her moment."

West's reaction is the latest on a growing list of controversial outbursts by the rapper.
