50 Cent Welcomes Album Release Battle With Jay-ZJuly 20, 2009
50 Cent has said he would welcome a chart battle with Jay-Z if both rappers released their new album on the same day.
At present, Jay-Z is due to release 'Blueprint 3' on September 11, while 50 Cent's new effort 'Before I Self Destruct' is out on September 29. However, in an interview with MTV News, 50 Cent said he “wouldn't mind” it if Jay-Z pushed his album release back to the same date. "But it's just, the scheduling is different,” he said. “Maybe he'll move back. ... Yeah, it'd be good." 50 Cent's last album 'Curtis' was involved in a tumultuous chart battle with Kanye West in 2007. The rapper's effort eventually charted in second position behind West's third album, 'Graduation'. 50 Cent told MTV that people loved the "conflict" of a chart battle. As previously reported, Jay-Z has dropped all elements of auto-tune from his forthcoming album, which has been produced by West.
