Interpol: 'We Tried To Make It Work With Carlos D'

September 17, 2010
Interpol: 'We Tried To Make It Work With Carlos D'Interpol have revealed that they tried to “make it work” with former bass player Carlos D.

The bassist, who was one of the band’s original members, quit earlier this year following the completion of their new album.

Guitarist Daniel Kessler said the group had frequently discussed continuing as a four-piece, but it became clear that Dengler want to pursue other projects outside of Interpol.

“As a group we’d been discussing for sixth months while we were writing the record the fact that he was a bit conflicted,” Kessler told ZaneLowe.com.

“He was incredibly involved in the writing of this record and he was really into the material we were writing, but at the same time there are many things outside of being in Interpol the rock band that he wanted to tend to.”

Kessler added: “We had quite a bit of dialogue trying to see if there was a way we could make it work, but when he finished his studio parts it became clear to him that he needed to leave the band to pursue what it was he need to purse.”

Meanwhile, singer Paul Banks described the former bass player as “a real original type of guy”.

Interpol released their self-titled fourth album on Monday (September 13).

The group showcased several songs from the record at an intimate London gig on Wednesday (September 15).
