Jack Penate Plays Ultra-Intimate Reading and Leeds Warm-Up ShowAugust 28, 2009
Jack Penate played an ultra-intimate Reading and Leeds Festival warm up show at a tiny venue in Kentish Town, North London last night with full brass band in tow.
The singer made his way into the rammed-to-the-rafters Flowerpot venue at 9.30pm to play with throngs of people still queuing outside to get in. After thanking the crowd, he burst into life with crowd favourite 'Second Minute Or Hour' and proceeded to bash out an hour-long set interspersed with old and new tracks. One of the stand out songs was 2007 hit 'Torn On The Platform', the reaction from the crowd as he hollered “You're not my girl, you're my town” was one of joyful screams. New single 'Pull My Heart Away' also got an airing which saw a different, more morose reaction from the crowd but one of equal admiration. But undoubtedly the pinnacle of the night came from the pre-encore 'Tonight's Today' and the ultimate track and recent single 'Be The One'. The Flowerpot has recently hosted low-key shows from Jamie T, Billy Bragg and Hockey, while White Denim play there tonight. Jack Penate plays Reading Festival today and Leeds Festival on Sunday (August 30). (by Billy Bell) See also: Jack Penate Announces New Live Dates (15.04.2009)
