David Bowie Denies Glastonbury Headline RumoursNovember 30, 2009
David Bowie has denied reports he’s set to headline next year’s Glastonbury festival in Somerset.
On Saturday, the Daily Mail reported that organisers had formally approached the singer about performing at the event’s 40th anniversary. However, in a statement on his website, Bowie said: “Sadly, there is absolutely no substance to this story.” The star's response appeared under the headline: “Rumours and lies and stories they made up...Part 386.” Famed as a musical innovator, Bowie has not played a full concert for six years following a heart scare. U2 are so far the only confirmed headliners for next year’s Glastonbury festival, which runs from June 25-27.
