Tributes To Guitar Legend Les Paul Flood InAugust 14, 2009
Tributes to late guitar innovator Les Paul have been flooding in from the music world in the hours following the 94 year-old's death yesterday.
Former Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash was one of the first to express his sadness at Paul's passing, describing him as a “one of the most stellar human beings I've ever known” on his Twitter page. Rage Against The Machine and Audioslave guitarist Tom Morello was also quick to state Paul's influence on the 20th century thanking him personally for rock and roll stating, “RIP Les Paul-thankyou for the instruments that changed the course of music. If u have ever “rocked” or “been rocked” u can thank Les Paul.” Regular Les Paul user and Hold Steady guitarist Tad Kubler, who had recently met Paul, reaffirmed the late star's influence to Rolling Stones, “There are very few human beings in history who touched so many people the way Les Paul did”, before going onto state that, “It was a privilege to have met him. He will be incredibly missed.” John Mayer was more concise with his tribute saying his life was “Pretty amazing”, whilst another pioneer of the Les Paul guitar, Lynyrd Skynyrd guitarist Gary Rossington said, “he was an amazing guitarist."
