Bob Marley Widow Sanctions Film About His LifeMarch 5, 2008
A film about the life of Bob Marley, which will be lifted from the autobiography of his widow, Rita Marley, looks set to go into production.
Rita Marley, who released ‘No Woman No Cry: My Life With Bob Marley’ in 2004, will also act as an executive producer on the project. The autobiography follows the couples 15 years of marriage up until Marley died of cancer in 1981. "This is about a girl from the ghetto and a boy from the rural areas," Rita Marley told Variety. "It's more than being a superstar - we have trod the rocky roads. It's more than just a story, it's a reality." She added that she would like to see Lauryn Hill, Bob Marley’s daughter-in-law, play her in the film. “Lauryn would be ideal [to play me]," she explained. "She sees my life as her life." Rudy Langlais will direct the as-yet-untitled film, which has yet to be given a release schedule. (by Jason Gregory) See also: Rihanna: Bob Marley Is An Inspiration (19.11.2010)
