Arcade Fire Top UK Album Chart With 'The Suburbs'August 9, 2010
Arcade Fire have topped the UK album chart for the first time with ‘The Suburbs’.
The Montreal-based band’s third album ended Eminem’s reign at the top of the chart countdown. The rapper’s LP ‘Recovery’ fell one place to number two, while ‘The Defamation Of Strickland Banks’ by Plan B was at number three. Arcade Fire’s chart glory comes just days after they played a live webcast from Madison Square Garden in New York. Their previous efforts, 2004's 'Funeral' and 2007's 'Neon Bible', charted at number 33 and number two respectively. Meanwhile, in the singles chart, Ne-Yo was a new entry at number one with ‘Beautiful Monster’. The US R&B star was the only new entry inside this week’s top-10, according to the Official Charts Company. (by Jason Gregory) See also: Arcade Fire Win Big At Canada's Juno Awards (28.03.2011)
