Alter Bridge's Myles Kennedy 'Grateful' For Led Zeppelin Audition

January 20, 2009
Alter Bridge's Myles Kennedy 'Grateful' For Led Zeppelin AuditionAlter Bridge frontman Myles Kennedy has said he was “grateful” to be given the chance to perform alongside members of Led Zeppelin.

Kennedy was one of a host of stars who auditioned to replace Robert Plant after the veteran singer ruled himself out of more performances with the band.

"I am not singing in Led Zeppelin or any offshoot of Led Zeppelin, but I did have a great opportunity and it was something that I'm very grateful for,” Kennedy told Blabbermouth.

The singer described the experience of performing alongside guitarist Jimmy Page, bassist John Paul Jones and drummer Jason Bonham as “surreal”.

“It was great. I'll tell that story some day. But for now, it was a good experience, and I'm still pinching myself, let's put it that way,” he added.

As previously reported, hopes for a Led Zeppelin tour were dashed earlier this month when Page's manager said attempts to find a replacement for Plant had collapsed.

Peter Mensch said: "Led Zeppelin are over. If you didn't see them in 2007, you missed them. It's done. I can't be any clearer than that."

"They tried out a few singers, but no one worked out. That was it. The whole thing is completely over now.

“There are absolutely no plans for them to continue. Zero. Frankly, I wish everybody would stop talking about it."

Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and Chris Cornell are both understood to have auditioned for Plant's place.

Calls for a Led Zeppelin reunion tour began after the bands reunion show at the O2 Arena in 2007, which attracted 1 million applicants for just 9,000 pairs of tickets.
