James Murphy: LCD Soundsystem Ending Before It Gets 'Embarrassing'February 15, 2011
LCD Soundsystem frontman James Murphy has said he has decided to disband the group before “it gets embarrassing”.
The group, which is masterminded by the producer, are due to play their final gig at Madison Square Garden in New York in April. Making his last ever TV appearance as LCD Soundsystem, Murphy said he was walking away from the outfit because “it seems like the right thing to do”. “It seems like the right thing to do,” he continued. “I'm 41, and at a certain point I think it gets embarrassing.” Appearing on The Colbert Report, Murphy revealed that he planned to focus again on commitments he had before the group formed, including his record label.
