Ricky Wilson: 'Boredom Has Made Kaiser Chiefs Hungry Again'

February 10, 2010
Ricky Wilson: 'Boredom Has Made Kaiser Chiefs Hungry Again'Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson says the band “needed to get bored” before they could rekindle their interest in music.

The group went on hiatus following their performance at the Leeds festival last year, but have now returned to the studio.

In an interview with the BBC, Wilson said Kaiser Chiefs' break had been instrumental in making them creative again.

"After a couple of months we got bored, then I got really bored, then mind-numbingly bored and that's when you start thinking about the fact you want to get up and do something again,” he said.

"I haven't felt this creative since we first started."

The band, whose last album 'Off With Their Heads' was released in 2008, are now working on the follow-up in drummer Nick Hodgson's new studio.

"We're playing around at the moment," the singer said.

"I'm sending him [Hodgson] words and lyrics in the mail. He's sending me CD's in the mail.

"We're actually utilising the Royal Mail quite a lot - it's quite nice because you find you're a little bit less embarrassed about what you send each other."

But Wilson stressed that fans shouldn't expect the new album to arrive any time soon, adding; “Give us a chance.”
